The Wonderful Chinese Poetry

Poetry is an important expression and carrier of Chinese culture, and it is also the literary genre with the longest history in China. The most prosperous period of Chinese poetry was the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), whose poetic style we now collectively call ancient poetry. Although modern poetry attaches great importance to metric, it still conforms to one of the most important characteristics of Chinese culture, that is, "mind is first". Therefore, the criterion for judging the quality of a Chinese poem is definitely not whether it fully conforms to the metric, and the criterion for judging the level of a poet is definitely not the number of his works.

After the modern style poem, a new style 詞 (Ci) was born, which may be regarded as a variant of the modern style poem, so it is often referred to as 詩詞 (Shici) in China.
