Classification of Songs Fu Bi Xing

Fu, Bi, Xing.

Poems in the Book of Songs (詩經) are classified according to the "Liuyi" (六義). "Liuyi" refers to "Feng (風), Ya (雅), Song (頌), Fu (賦), Bi (比), Xing (興)". "Feng, Ya, Song" refers to different categories of music, and "Fu, Bi, Xing" refers to expressive techniques.

"Fu, Bi, Xing" are the expressions of poetry.

"Fu" means "declaring directly", which is a direct statement of the matter, describing the process of an event, which is generally seen in "Song" and "Daya".

"Bi" means "to imitate the situation", which is a metaphor, using one thing to compare another thing, such as using the hateful mouse to describe the greed of the ruler.

"Xing" means to associate one thing with another thing; it can also be said to: first talk about other things, and then start the association, for example, "the peach blossoms, scorching its flowers" associates with the beauty of the bride when she is married, like a peach blossom in full bloom.
