The origin of Chinese poetry

long long ago...

Poetry is a literary genre with rhythm, concise expression, diverse structure, used to reflect life and express emotions. Poetry is considered to be the original origin of literature, which first occurred in human society without writing, spread in the form of oral language, and combined with music and dance.

The earliest Chinese poems is the ancient Chinese folk song "The Book of Songs" (詩經, Shijing). Later, people believed that the characteristics of poems were that they could be recited, as well as the format and rhythm requirements of words and paragraphs, and emphasized the beauty of poems, called rhyme. By the mid-twentieth century, formatting requirements for poetry are less stringent. Poetry can be self-contained or combined with other arts, such as poetic drama, lyrics or prose poetry, and words with music are called songs.
